More than 200 missing after Philippines ferry collision - The Times (subscription)

Rescuers were today searching for more than 200 passengers, including dozens of babies, who are missing after a ferry collided with a cargo ship in Philippine waters in the depths of night.

The incident involving the St Thomas Aquinas ferry took place in calm waters near the central port of Cebu, the Philippines' second biggest city. The collision caused the vessel to sink almost immediately, forcing many to jump into the ocean while others were left trapped.
